We bought an old decrepit property needing complete refurbishment. On the plus side it is in one of the most beautiful villages in Slovakia and all the houses there have been. or are being, renovated. We are going back in a few weeks to appoint an architect and builders. It is a village in tha Bansko Bystrica area and the property was not on the web site (the one we saw there had been taken) and Otilia sourced it for us. Central and North Slovakia is really beautiful; the bit around Bratislava is flat like Kent. But the place has a buzz and with a good dinner for two plus a bottle of wine for £20 and a pint of double strength beer for 60P it certainly gets my vote. We are just about to put another UK property on the market and, when that sells, we intend to buy a resale flat in the town of Bansko Bystrica which Otilia will source for us. This town, in the Low Tatras, has a population of 100,000 but has another 25,000 students in term time. The rental market is good so we intend to buy an older but well built flat for minor refurbishment and letting. Thanks for all your help and cheerful efficiency,, Alec knox

Hi Sandie, We are so nearly there and feeling very positive too. It's really hard to jack in jobs and let go of everything but as the days approach I know we are doing the right thing. It would be great to invite you all out for a break but we need to get our heads around bank (sorry saints holidays) dates first. Sorry , it must seem like we have been a total pain but now we know what is going on, and we are starting to get into the Spanish way of life things get easier every day. Hello Franco! How is life in Spain? Here snow is melting and sales season starts. I run after every penny now, wish is that strong! I have received today all copies of related documents from Carlos from Manzanares. For my Spanish company, contract, invoices. Tomorrow book keeping for February will be finished and all will be fine in right time. Feels good. To be honest I am very surprised and impressed. I had no thougts to buy. Desicion happened suddenly. Surprised myself. I was prepared that all would take long time, was prepared for hassle with documents and so on. It would be the last dream to work in company where work positive proffesional people like you and Carlos, where people have wish and energy and sparkle, really! Then you can move mountains. Thanks! Dear Jenny It was nice to talk to you the other evening. Thank you for setting up the property searches for us in the Costa Blanca. I am very glad to say that it looks as if we are buying one of the houses that we saw, and in record time. Andrew, your colleague estate agent who showed us the property, has been wonderful; helpful, patient and superbly professional. He showed us a variety of properties which suited both our requirements and our budget until we finally found the one that ticked all the boxes. He has guided us through a buying process that was very foreign to us as newcomers to Spain, and assures us that he will continue to help us in the next few weeks while we complete our purchase. His response to emails since we have returned to England is prompt and to the point. Hi Sandie, I will start on day one, with us landing in Bulgaria at 1.25 am on the 5th October and no one there to meet us! Oh! have we been conned? the fact that we were in a strange Country unable to contact anyone because of the time of night, I must say, was most worrying! I must say even in this strange environment the locals got the wife and myself a cab who found us a hotel to stay in until we were able to get in contact with someone. On day two, that of course was your office and we were picked up by you rep who explained that he had made a mistake on the date that he had to pick us up. Oh! what a relief someone to put us at ease, explain what had gone wrong take the blame for their mistake and not try to pass the buck. What a change to our state of mind, gone was the rage and anger and soon afterwards a smile when they showed us the first property on our way to the Hotel that was booked for us to stay in. Day three, We again were picked up by the rep, who drove us to the prime property that we had came to see, we could not believe what was on offer, > the House did need some repairs (who would have thought otherwise) but other than that, what a property! I had dissected the property, drawn new > plans and all repairs and changes I wished to have done to the property before I had even said that I wished to make an offer on the property. The offer was made and hopefully has been accepted and the building work is being arranged to be done as I write this e-mail. The area is so beautiful and the locals so friendly, the vendor was ever so helpful (they stay in the village and offered to look after the property when we are not there) The cost of living is is so inexpensive an evening meal for 4 for just over £10.00. Furnishings to completely furnish the house for under £900.00. I could go on and on with heaps of praises to you the reps and everyone that assisted us on our venture into Bulgaria housing market. I will say no more until I hear from our lawyer saying that this property is now our's, and we have completed the transactions that need to be done. Hi Sandy, Just a short e-mail to thank both you and Jenny for all your help over the past few months. As you know, I am deeply suspicious of Estate Agents particularly Spanish Estate Agents. We still have a legal case against an agent in Mojacar who decided that he could help himself to our deposit money and during our last trip we encountered an agent who was loading prices by as much as 15,000 euros. Thank goodness we had already been talking to you ! Prestigious Properties have been fantastic right from the start and I am amazed at the local knowledge that Jenny has. She took us to see all the properties that we were interested in and then added a couple that she thought we should see. We are buying one of these !
